Operations Coordinator – Town of Machias

The Town of Machias is seeking a highly organized, adaptable, and proactive Operations Coordinator to support its administration team at the Machias Town Office. Reporting directly to the Town Manager, this key role will assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of cross-departmental projects. Responsibilities include reviewing and updating policies, developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), and managing special initiatives to support the town’s strategic goals, among others.

The ideal candidate is positive, detail-oriented, and thrives in a dynamic municipal environment. We’re looking for someone who can balance day-to-day tasks with big-picture thinking, all while working collaboratively with a variety of constituents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, community studies, or a related field
  • Strong familiarity with Google Workspace
  • Familiarity with accounts payable, payroll, and bookkeeping practices
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with town employees, business owners, government officials, community members, and vendors

Knowledge of the Machias community and its unique opportunities and challenges

Town of Machias is hiring a temporary dispatcher & driver for the Machias Fire Department:  F/T with full benefits or P/T or Per Diem – No fire fighter experience necessary – Will Train.  Must have clean Class B Driver’s License or obtain within 6 months of hire. Work at Public Safety Building, respond to all fire calls.
